This training system permits practical experimentation and demonstration with a “Climatronic” automotive air-conditioning unit with climate control. The system's very realistic design in our compact system makes for equally realistic training. The fully functional system also permits training of evacuation and filling of the air-conditioning system.
The "Climatronic" training system uses a genuine two-zone air-conditioning system to impart all the necessary diagnostic skills which will be of vital importance in any subsequent career. The model is made up entirely of OEM components from a Volkswagen Golf 5 and thus provides trainees with a practical learning experience just like working on a real car. For instance, it is no problem to connect an air-conditioning service station to the wholly included refrigeration circuit with expansion valve. Since the equipment is left completely open to view, it is possible to observe the actuator motors and butterfly valves in detail. Continuous regulation of motor speed and the driving speed simulation mean that setting of the air guide flaps at high speed can be demonstrated. It is also possible to see how the air conditioning can be turned off when temperatures outside are low. In order to ensure the safety of trainees, certain dangerous areas are covered with plexiglass. This training model does not need to be connected to a three-phase electricity supply.
As well as the authentic components, the system is also enhanced for educational purposes by means of the following modifications, making it particularly suitable for use in educational settings which closely resemble professional practice:

Fully automatic air conditioning maintenance and servicing equipment for systems using 134a and HFO1234yf refrigerants. Easily understandable instructions shown on display. Many new AIRCO systems, especially in hybrid or electric vehicles, are equipped with a high-voltage compressor. Such a compressor works with a special kind of oil which does not conduct electricity. Use of ordinary oil can be hazardous for mechanics servicing the vehicle and can cause damage to the system. For this reason, the equipment and service tubing in systems with high-voltage compressors need to be flushed out internally before the system is filled with refrigerant oil and refrigerant itself. This flushing ensures that no ordinary, non-insulating oil is present in the system or can enter the system during filling and thus pose a risk to the safety of the system. The patented KoolKare system makes automatic internal flushing possible with the help of two additional service couplings from the KoolKare equipment to the nozzles for the service tubing.
Today's automotive air-conditioning systems use a refrigerant R134a that has a high greenhouse warming potential (GWP) of 1430. In the EC directive 2006/40/EG it was stipulated that in future only refrigerants with a greenhouse warming potential lower than 150 may be used. In order to comply with this requirement a new, environmentally friendly refrigerant was developed which only has a GWP of 4. This new refrigerant (R1234 yf ) has been on the market since 2011. With this supplementary package you have the opportunity to retool the 2-zone climatronics system (SO3240-3F) for the new refrigerant R1234yf. Besides replacing the actual refrigerant, all the other retrofitting necessary for the air-conditioning system is also carried out such that reliable and disturbance-free operation is guaranteed.
